Students and staff at St Gregory’s Catholic High School have come together to raise an impressive £1,205.33 for two mental health charities through a special ‘Wear It Yellow’ fundraising day.

The event saw students show their support for young people’s mental health by wearing something yellow and making donations to help fund vital mental health support.

Many young people are struggling with their mental health from all over the world, and too many are left waiting for support until they reach crisis point. St Gregory’s’ aim is to raise awareness and help charities that are giving young people the tools they need to look after their mental health.

Alongside the yellow-themed outfits, St Gregory’s students and staff also got involved by purchasing delicious treats from a school bake sale, helping to boost the fundraising total.

Mrs O’Kane, St Gregory’s student wellbeing counsellor and life skills coordinator, said: “Our Mental Health Ambassadors are so passionate about the work they do to promote positive mental health. Through awareness days like this, they bring the whole school community together to show solidarity with those who are struggling, so that they feel less alone. We are incredibly proud of them and grateful to all who helped us raise such a magnificent amount of money.”

St Gregory’s would like to thank to everyone who took part, donated and baked to make the event such a success. The generosity and enthusiasm shown by the school’s community demonstrates how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in supporting young people’s mental health.
