Close of the Jubilee Year in Rome
The 2025 Jubilee Year, which concluded for our parishes on 28 December 2025, concludes globally on the Feast of the Epiphany with the solemn closing of the Holy Doors of the four Papal Basilicas in Rome, especially St Peter’s Basilica.

A Mass for young adults organised by the Archdiocesan Young Adult Group. All aged 18–35 are very welcome to attend.

Online Alpha Course: Explore Life, Faith and Meaning

The Archdiocese of Liverpool begins a new 11-week online Alpha Course, running weekly until 26 March. Alpha is an opportunity to explore life, faith and meaning in a friendly and open environment. All are welcome.

Meet your Archbishop

Blessed Sacrament Chapel 5.00pm
The Friends of the Metropolitan Cathedral are delighted to start the New Year with an evening with Archbishop John Sherrington.It will commence with Mass at 5.00pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Then we will adjourn to the Gibberd Room where we will enjoy a hot pot supper and a glass of wine. There will be an opportunity to meet Archbishop John and share with him his ambitions and plans for our archdiocese. The cost is £30.00 per person which will include a hot pot supper, wine and a donation to the Friends. Archbishop John Sherrington will celebrate the Marriage and Family Life Mass, including the renewal of marriage vows and a special blessing for couples celebrating significant anniversaries. Marriage Preparation Catechist Training

The archdiocese is recruiting new marriage preparation catechists. Training consists of five sessions, after which catechists will be invited to help deliver marriage preparation courses for engaged couples twice a year.
